Unity House volunteers honored
TROY — Eight years ago, Theresa Weinman from Albany Medical Center helped start a free medical clinic for victims of domestic violence at Unity House. Once a week, volunteer doctors and a nurse see patients who would otherwise not have access to medical care.

Carol Brinkman and her coworkers from SEFCU organize a large carnival each year for the 300 children attending the Unity Sunshine daycares and preschools. This will be the ninth year that Brinkman has organized this SEFCU-sponsored event.

Owais Memon from the Muslim Soup Kitchen Project brings food to the Unity House Mental Health community residences, a tradition over 5 years in the making. These are but a few examples of the many great works done by scores of Unity House volunteers.

More than a dozen volunteers nominated by Unity House program directors came in for a photo shoot with Joan Heffler of Creative Expressions Photography, as a way of saying thank you For the time ana energy they have so selflessly given to Unity House over the last several years. Some volunteers will have their photo appear on the Unity House Fact Sheet, and many will have their story presented in the Annual Report.
